My Dad Buying A Classic Mustang
I really have not had time to speak on my web site nearly as much as I had expected, owing to the fact that I have been roped into helping my pops fuel his wet & wild midlife crisis. Well, I guess it’s not as far gone as it could be. How it went, I mean how he did it was he got all done up like the Fonz, and come over to my place and casually inform me, in his hippest dialect: “Put some shades on, boy, you and I are out scouting for some classic Mustangs. No joke, buddy, I’m finally going to buy an old school muscle car.”
Before I knew what was happening he & I were on our way to all of those creepy vintage car showrooms that I’m just about certain are owned by the mob, and I stare in wonder this wild old guy wrote a check without even stopping to think, for an unnaturally well-preserved classic Ford Mustang. I have to admit, it’s an intense machine. It sounded amazing too.
Notice that I said that last sentence in a past tense. It sounded really nice for a short time, at which point it rendered itself silent. Dad says that it is just a simple fix and all he needs is the right part. Only thing is, it is not as straightforward to get your hands on 1965 Mustang parts as it was some a million years ago, but my Dad tells me there is a really nice-sized market for them to this day. From what I’m told the best place to find parts for 1965 Mustangs is through web auctions, since you can find them refurbished and sometimes better than new. They’re not necessarily super-cheap, though… Get real, these are ancient classic car parts.
I suppose it could’ve been worse. He might have bought himself a mail-order bride.
