Top 3 Tips for Taking Great Pictures with Digital Cameras

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

There are many tips for taking great pictures with digital cameras. Many individuals believe that taking pictures digitally requires no specific skill or prior knowledge, but the truth is that digital based cameras integrate a high level of features that makes it challenging to capture pictures in the way that you want, or the way that you expect. By knowing a few tricks, you can capture beauty in every shot that you take. The following represents 3 tips that you can use in order to truly capture the essence of every photo that you take:

1. Many digital cameras come with preset balance settings such as “Beach”, “Sunny”, “Cloudy”, “Night”, and similar settings. Prior to taking pictures, it is important to learn how to access these balance settings and to experiment with each one. This way, when you indulge in taking pictures you will know which balance setting will compliment the photograph and can set the camera to that setting.

2. Do you enjoy taking a lot of pictures of the great outdoors or of people and places outside? If so, then it is likely that you will benefit from what is referred to as a “Polarizer”. This is a special filter that is often used when photographing landscapes and natural scenes. It works to reduce the amount of glare that is displayed in the image and even eliminates reflections that are not intended to be caught. If you are unable to acquire a polarizer filter, simply place a lens from a pair of old sunglasses over the viewing area of the camera – this will provide the same effect.

3. The next step to taking great pictures with digital cameras is to research the zoom mode on your camera. This is also often referred to as “Macro Mode”. This feature will permit you to take pictures of items that are typically hard to capture in close up. For example, you may capture a line of ants, or a flower in your garden.

It is easy to take great pictures with digital cameras. It may seem a bit overwhelming, but it is important to learn all that you can regarding the features of your camera. Once you know what can be done with it, you may incorporate these top 3 tips to capture some fascinating shots!

Gain Liberty Using Mobility Devices

Foundation

Mobility – it is only in actual fact plausible to be grateful for what mobility means if your capacity to move around freely might be reduced, then it takes on a whole new meaning.

Having lived with somebody who’s partially disabled gives me an understanding of the kind of dilemmas that people with physical challenges have to deal with. When you are have the ability as well as sure footed there is no true knowledge with the restriction of not having thorough mobility of your person. Regardless of which no one will be particularly interested unless it concerns them closely. We all take it entirely for granted when everything functions as it should and we get on with living our lives concentrating on making money, raising a family, having a good time and other such mainstream everyday things. The truth is quite often we do not even like to see people who are disabled and struggling because it makes us aware of our own vulnerability which reminds us of our mortality. Next time you see some person who is in a wheel chair, heed your own reaction to that individual, and be aware of how people shun eye contact and deliberately get out of the way. Those that have wheelchairs in some cases say how people they meet will speak with the carer and ignore them as if they are useless in addition deaf.

Early Disability Aids

The first type of disability aid that most people will be familiar with is the walking stick. For some, it will be something to make them feel more secure on their feet when they suffer some impairment in walking. If a person has a broken leg or hip then crutches for a period of time will be needed and later a stick until full mobility returns. When I broke my hip I found the most frustrating thing was that I could not carry a cup of tea from one place to another so I improvised with a trolley on wheels which I could push along. When you have to use two arm crutches as I did to get about, there are no arms left to carry anything. For non spilling things you can use a bag to carry your things in which can be attached to your crutches, but not cups of liquid. Recently when visiting my husband in hospital I watched while the nurses unpacked a Zimmer frame on which they attached a plastic box with a tray for a lid. It was fixed like a basket on a bike. The patient had to practice pushing it along, and I realised it was because he lived on his own and needed to be able to transport things but couldn’t manage without two handed support. These types of early aids are common for people as they get older and lose their youthful mobility because of age related difficulties. These are additionally recommended for those who have suffered incidents and accidents so that short-term mobility is disturbed.

Freedom

One of the major frustrations for people becoming disabled is their loss of independence and freedom to be able to do what they want, when they want. If a person becomes disabled after years of normal living and independence there will be a great deal of anger and a need to make adjustments to the new situation. However, whatever the disability experienced there are a vast range of aids to help people live as independent a life as possible.

Amongst the most popular of all disability aids may be the Sterling Diamond mobility scooters providing a very convenient way of getting around if walking might be hard for you.

In the Home

When suffering loss of mobility or normal functioning whatever the reason, the first task is to create safety and functionality in the home where the level of disability determines the type of support needed.

One of the first things to consider is the quality of comfort while resting. Correct support in bed and while sitting in a chair will allow the muscles to relax properly so that the body will function as well as possible. There are a range of Orthopaedic beds which allow for many different positions from lying to sitting and the best examples are the hospital beds where you will find electronic buttons to change the position of a patient with ease. Chairs can also be found that will allow for different positions and even a vibrating and massaging function incorporated into the frame. A friend of mine had a chair specially made which reclines, vibrates and massages in three different places and also tips forward when you want to get out for ease of standing up. When we stop by all of us want a go in it as it is such great fun.

The next trial when disabled, is the function of toilet, bathing and dressing. There are a huge range of aids to chose from such as commodes and other toilet necessities, grab rails for showers and baths. My mother is severely arthritic and cannot get into the bath anymore, so she has a seat which lowers and raises her in and out of the bath. There are also walk in baths and then specially adapted showers with stools and slip mats to aid the sufferer. Also because my mother is partially sighted she can’t see the numbers anymore, so she has a set of talking weighing scales.

Having managed the getting up, washing and dressing as well as maybe a good rest in the special chair, moving around the house will be next on the agenda. Depending of the level of incapacity it might be that a simple walking stick or Zimmer frame will support mobility. As well as grab handles in the bathroom, handles can be mounted alongside entrance doors and steps to help with negotiating different levels. Just because people suffer some sort of disability it doesn’t mean that they want to leave their homes, but when they live in a house and have stairs to negotiate then the use of a stair lift is a wonderful invention. Severely disabled people may need a wheelchair in the home which needs lots of space and maybe expanded doorways to accommodate it.

The next activity for independent living is food preparation and dining. Standing can be a problem so a high stool to perch on might of value. Otherwise do as much preparation as possible sitting at the kitchen/dining table. If a person has a problem with holding cutlery and kitchen utensils, there are specially adapted items with larger handles for ease of use. With arthritis in the wrists, lifting items such as kettles and saucepans can be a problem, but there are available cleverly designed kettle and teapot tippers for ease of pouring. Using a food processer and electric gadgets will save a great deal of time and effort when preparing meals. Another simple aid which my mother found very useful is a grabbing stick or ‘Reacher’ that picks up items to save bending down. 560

When in control of the four wheeled scooter a great pavement sense is essential so that people don’t run over other pedestrians.

Maintaining the home is sometimes tricky for a disabled person. Obviously there are washing machines, dryers and dishwasher to aid with tasks in the home but you can also get remote control vacuum cleaners that are radio controlled with a joystick or key pad such as for toy boats and aeroplanes. Long handled brushes and dusters help with hard to reach corners particularly the microfiber dusters that attract dirt and dust to them.

Other items available for people who have some level of limitation may be lever type handles for taps to make them easier to use. If a person has lost their grip there are special items to open cans, bottles and jars. Because my mother is partially sighted she has large buttons on her telephone and speed dialling so she can stay in touch with her family who are spread far and wide. She can order goods by phone which means with such aids she is able to retain her independence and stay in her own home. It seems that whatever the disability there is some clever invention to help overcome the problem.

Outside the Home

To enable a person who is disabled to live as normal a life as possible then aids outside the home are just as important as those inside. Wearing an alarm cord around the neck is a wise precaution so that if a person does get into difficulties while outside they can call for help. To be able to move around easily outside may only require a walking stick or a Zimmer frame for support but where mobility is more restricted, wheelchairs or electric scooters may be necessary. My mother used to love to garden but now the arthritis and osteoporosis has taken hold and her eyesight is impaired, she is severely limited in any activity outside. On a good day however she does have a garden stool which enables her to do some weeding and tidying of the flower beds. There are even wheeled seats for moving along the edge of flower beds when weeding. Long handled garden tools can be used to avoid bending or kneeling and raised beds will allow even wheel chair users to tackle the garden plot. Ramps may be installed to allow a wheelchair to move from one level to another, and sit-on lawn mowers are a possibility if you have a big enough lawn.

There is a relatively new product on the market called Flexiloc which is a modular system of tough polyurethane tiles that interlocks to form ramps of any size. It has the advantage of being able to run straight, turn corners, be used indoors or outdoors and has a good grip surface that is more comfortable than conventional surfaces. It can be used as a temporary solution where a permanent ramp is not possible and is easily dismantled to be reused again and again.

If a disabled person relies on a wheelchair then automatic gates and garage doors which open remotely is a big help. Cars or vans used for transporting electric scooters are usually specially adapted vehicles with ramps or lifts to allow the mobility scooter to be loaded up. Sometime cars may have to be adapted to allow for the lack of functioning of particular limbs. My husband cannot manage the foot pedal movement required for gear changing so we have switched to an automatic car to enable him to still drive.

As suggested by its name mobility medical mobility scooter products are powered by a battery and have to be recharged from an electrical power point every time they are used.

There is a huge range of mobility scooters available both new and second hand. The mobility scooter is mostly a four wheeled vehicle which travels between four and eight miles an hour. However for the electric scooter there seems to be more three wheeled versions which travel at a maximum of six miles per hour. The speed is determined on the weather, the terrain and riders weight. A three wheeled scooter is inherently less stable and unless greater manoeuvrability is required it is better to get the four wheeled variety. Some scooters can be completely folded up to go into the boot of a car. The scooter usually has a chair with arms mounted over the battery enclosure with handlebars like a bike for turning and controls in reach of the hands. They are very easy to operate and comfortable to ride. The chairs vary with the amount of padding and enclosed back, usually the more expensive the more padding there is.

As well as the open versions of mobility scooters there are enclosed ones to protect the passenger from rain and wind. These come with lights, windscreen wipers, full suspension, mirrors and lockable doors as with a car and can cover larger distances. I have observed them in my local area travelling along the road rather than on the pavement.

Home Remote Controls

Where an individual is physically unable to get about inside or outside the home the use of remote controls is a valuable aid. Being able to manage and operate your entertainment centre remotely is only one of the possibilities. The availability of remote controls for opening and closing of blinds and curtains, switches for electrical equipment such as ovens, lights, cooking appliance and washing machines, is essential. For people who cannot easily answer the door there is a keyless door entry system designed to fit most latch locks which enable the elderly, the disabled and partially sighted who have difficulty using keys, to manage their security remotely.

One story I read in the paper a few weeks ago was of a young man who was so obese, in the region of forty stone, that he could not move out of his bed. He had an entertainment centre in his room remotely controlled and he ordered food online to be delivered to his house. There were three healthcare workers in attendance at all times to turn him in bed and see to his bodily needs; as well as people to make for him the food he had ordered. He was waiting for a stomach operation to staple his stomach together to reduce his intake of food. And all this was paid for by the tax payer. My feeling was that if there was no one to take such good care of him he would soon lose weight because he would not be able to get about and eat all that food.

Having read that story I question the value of having remote controls so easily available, because the forced activity of getting up and out of your chair to change channels is at least exercise to keep your circulation going. However for people who cannot move around easily then remote controls are a boon I am sure.

Conclusion

For the children who have been born with a physical disability, may never know what it is like to be fully mobile and they may forever yearn to live a normal life. For those who were once completely functional, when they become disabled they have to come to terms with their loss and face up to their own mortality. If the time comes when you are no longer able to do all the things you used to do, then be sure there are numerous imaginative devices that can assist you maintain as much self-sufficiency as possible.

The Artist Philip Gray

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

The man behind the famous prints Philip Gray was born in Cork, Ireland way back in the year of 1959. Since he was young as five, he already had the passion for art. He can even recall his fondest memories of being taught to draw figuratively by a family friend, Trevor Scott, who was also the founder of the College of Art and Design in Dublin. Philip joined the Navy when he was 16 and that is where he also began to paint while at sea. He may be producing high-end paintings that reveal the world’s commercialism but he sees to it that he adds his warm and personal touch to make his Philip Gray prints accessible to a wide range of markets. Hence, more and more people are becoming more fascinated with his art.

Philip Gray prints are seen to be reflecting the beauty of Ireland and the seas. He has produced art pieces of dramatic seascapes, which are often sold in limited edition pieces. This symbolises his life as a part of the Navy, where he spent almost seventeen years at sea. Philip is known for mastering a project called The Extreme Art. This is when a painter gets to paint in extremely different scenarios like on top of a mountain, in the middle of shark-infested waters, in the midst of wild animals, etc.

For Philip, he compares painting to being as essential as breathing. He firmly believes that without painting, there won’t be any reason for living. Each day for him is a wonderful chance to leave everything behind and confront each empty and new canvas with fresh energy and an inspired heart and mind waiting to unravel. His muse is the sea or the waters, believing that it can best interpret his emotions. All his previous experiences as well in the Navy have helped him discover that the shallow surface of the seas reflects the exterior part of us and its abyss symbolises our inner man.

Philip Gray was once voted as Best New Artist at the Fine Art Trade Guild Awards way back in 2007 in the UK. His prints, which depict the various combinations of landscapes and seascapes, have made him earn international credibility and recognition. Now, he stands as one of Ireland’s most valued living artists. During the awards ceremony, he was so full of humility, as he expressed his surprise to how fast he was given recognition in the UK art market.

The unique thing about Philip Gray prints is that he greatly utilises his creativity with painting as a free flowing form of communication. His art paintings render everyone with the chance to transport them into somewhere that is far from the chaotic busyness of everyday life. It helps to bring you into a wonderful reunion or reconciliation with nature.

All his experiences with the sea as nature have been greatly seen perfectly alive in his paintings and that alone can be considered his greatest edge amongst other painters.

Choosing the Best Bike for You

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Other than spending a small fortune on a hybrid car or electric car, commuting by bicycle is probably the best way to save gas and improve the environment. When selecting your next (or first) bicycle, it’s important to understand the different bike types. Here’s a few tips about the most basic categories.

Road bikes, also known as racing bikes, are usually, if not always built for speed and riding on smooth surfaces like pavement. Because of this they are equipped with very narrow tires, drop handlebars (to put the rider in the most aerodynamic position), and multiple speeds (12-24 gear positions is common). Racing bikes follow the same basic layout, but with a very lightweight frame. Although road bikes and racers can be used for commuting, most commuters opt for comfort rather than speed.

Mountain bikes are built less for speed and more for durability and control. These bikes have much larger tires, raised handlebars that put the rider in a more upright position, and are generally (but not always) heavier. Since mountain bikes are intended to be used on trails and steep inclines, the gear ratios are generally lower than that of road bikes. Some mountain bikes have up to 36 gears, advanced suspension systems to handle bumpy terrain, and it is now common to find disc brakes on one or both wheels. These bikes are generally acceptable for commuting, especially if a portion of that commute is over uneven and rough or primitive roads.

Hybrid bikes make an attempt to combine the best of road and mountain bikes, and are intended to handle most commuting situations. These bikes come equipped with narrower tires than mountain bikes, fork and seat shock absorbers for the occasional bumpy road, comfortable seats and handlebars, and often come with pre-fitted fenders and luggage racks for bicycle saddle bags. Many hybrids are geared much like road bikes, while others limit the number of gears to a minimum (5-7 speeds) or have the gears “sealed” in the rear hub (3-5 speeds). Hybrids are quite often the best selection for most commuting situations, and are a great selection for casual riders.

Many other specialized types exist, from single speed cruisers to very specialized off-road “rock riders” and BMX racers. However, most cyclists will do quite well to start from the list above. Use this guide as a starting point, try out a few models of each type to see what’s good for you, and then start riding. You won’t regret it.

Free Foreclosure List: but only from the government

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

There are numerous places advertising free foreclosure list, but most have a catch. There are many sites that advertise the free listings that are available from the government, but you must be a member of the site. One of these memberships can cost $38.95 a month with a free 7 day trial period. But to get the 7 free days you must have already given them your credit card number, not such a free deal.

Another popular scam is from real estate agents that advertise free listing of foreclosures. The details of the ads reveal wordings you often find in documents prepared by lawyers. Be prepared for statements like “Search real estate in our MLS or multiple listing services. The search results may include foreclosures.” Then of course it is always “If you found something you like call me.”

The web site www.freeforeclosuredatabase.com is a surprising site. This site breaks up the foreclosure listings by state, town, and zip code. The only details about the property are the asking price, location or address, the realtor that is representing the government agency that has foreclosed on the property, and a telephone number. This is an informative site and they did not ask for any money.

If you are looking to invest in this type of property, it is best that you first do your homework on the local and state’s laws pertaining to these types of transactions. You do not want to have someone else’s headache to become yours, because not all of these properties were foreclosed on because someone lost their job.

Most of all is to be aware that if they say free foreclosure list, the list might be free, but obtaining it is generally not.

Nightmares

Monday, December 28th, 2009

What a time I’ve had of late it all started with a problem with my sink leaking well anyway I sought to find a localised plumber in the local telephone directory – who could appear within a week no chance there In Any Event I made up one’s mind to do a search on google for Liverpool Emergency Plumbers. Hit gold with that one there they where on-line .Anyway I used the contact form and inside of about 25 minutes I had a telephone call to arrange an appointment .That’s what I call service. To cut a long story short they arrived the said day and where rather a bit cheaper than the firm who would not get to me for virtually a week.

Not long after the original problem was settled don’t I get a phone call from a acquaintance alleging someone has rammed into his car from behind and are refusing any obligation. Not really sure how that goes as they clearly drove into his motorcar. Well hot on my success with google and the phantom plumbers don’t I get on-line and go looking for a Liverpool Personal Injury Solicitors for him. Merely on the off chance that his insurance policy has some miniature little clause about legal costs who knows?

On a brighter note someone I know has determined to expend some of their redundancy on purchasing a sandwitch delivery business. Not really positive if they have done as much research as they should before going for it .I have assured them that they want a local Chartered Accountant in Liverpool to look at the books as these individuals recognize incisively what they are looking at. For the fee it could well spare him thousands if the concern is going to fold or hopefully the accountant will turn around and say that it seems like a profitable business go for it.

So all in all the last few weeks have been quite eventful around here. Looking forwards to a few calm weeks now with no leakages or telephone calls about car accidents

Which Fast Dieting Approach Works Best?

Monday, December 28th, 2009

If you’ve decided to shed off those extra pounds in a very short time, here’s a diet that gives you fast and good effect without much efforts on your side.

You know, I think it would only be right that if I am going to talk to you about the what DOES work, that I also talk to you about what DOES NOT work… makes sense huh? Well, with that said, what I strongly recommend you avoid is “fad dieting”.

Here’s the list of diets that are considered as “fad dieting” plans:

* Low Calorie Diets – These types of diets do not work because they will drop your metabolism.

* Low Carb Diets – almost 80% of people who used these diets felt low energy and had to give up on dieting due to that..

* Low Fat Diets – These diets do not work because your body actually needs fat (healthy fats such as monounsaturated) in order to burn away fat… go figure!

Now, a diet that I recommend if you want quick BUT natural results is the calorie shifting diet from Fat Loss 4 Idiots.

There are two main reasons why this fast dieting program is the #1 choice by many dieters:

- Firstly, you DO NOT restrict any type of nutrient or calorie from your diet with this program. Therefore, there is no starving or depriving.

- Secondly, this online diet program will heighten your metabolism to the highest peak simply by eating… period.

The diet combines a custom calorie shifting menu plan that has 4 or 5 different meals for each day. The meals has all the nutrients that your body need throughout the day. The focus of this diet is that all meals are combined in a specific blend that pushes up your fat burning hormones to the top.

The average successful result is that you can loose 20 pounds in 1 month and as soon as you’ve slimmed down, you can keep the weight from gaining it back.

So, if you want to Lose 9 Pounds in 11 DAYS and “melt away fat” LIGHTING fast, then I highly recommend the “Calorie Shifting Diet” from Fat Loss 4 Idiots! I lost an AMAZING 50 lbs. of fat in 8 weeks using this fast dieting plan and I did not regain 1 pound back!
