Soccer is the name of the game

Friday, August 28th, 2009

442fotball.no is the name of the blog that is on every Norwegian soccer fan’s lip these days. Golden nuggets in form of great articles is written every week and just a few weeks ago they wrote a great article about the Norwegian youngster Per Ciljan Skjelbred. The you player did a fantastic impression in the game between Rosenborg of Trondheim and Brann of Bergen.

Skjelbred impressed with his work moral, driblings and passes. Agents from english Premier League clubs Blackburn and Newcastle is interested in his services and was watching from the stands. 442fotball.no was there too. English clubs have for some time now been watching Skjelbred with the intend to bring the kid to England. Since Skjelbred injured his leg two years ago, he has showed and impressive comeback and many believe that he will be playing in the Norwegian national team soon.

The game against Brann ended in a draw, 0-0, but Per Ciljan Skjelbred did his job in midtfield, serving Rosenborgs attacker Steffen Iversen passes that should have resultet in several goals. Iversen is not in his best form and went off the field goal less. If Rosenborgs attackers would have shown the same form as the rest of the team, like Skjelbred, Rosenborg would have won by several goals, even if Brann got some chances near the end of the game. Branns captain and midtfielder Eirik Bakke, was totally “run over” by Skjelbred and the rest of Rosenborgs midtfielders. You could not tell that Bakke is the one with the most experience, from England and the Norwegian national team.

Is Scotland in North Carolina?

Friday, August 28th, 2009

Did you know that there are more people living in North Carolina USA who boast Scottish descent than there are Scots living in Scotland?

That is hardly surprising as huge numbers of Scots left Scotland at the time of the Highland Clearances and in the following years to seek their fortune in the New World of USA as well as Canada, Australia and the Far East. Our Laird of Jura website looking at the history and culture of the Isle of Jura tells of nearly 2,000 people who left the island and the surrounding area and ended up in North Carolina.

This area still has close connections with the home country of Scotland and many would say that the town of Laurinburg, North Carolina for example is as Scottish as any town on the Scottish Mainland. Did you know that :

Laurinberg is in the county of Scotland.

The main school is called Scotland High School. The school song is “Scotland the Brave” (the official national anthem of Scotland).

The school has a marching band who all wear the Royal Stewart Tartan. And of course they have a prize winning bagpipe band wearing the full kilt.

The school Football, Baseball and the Basketball teams are called the “Fighting Scots”. (Did you know that the game of Basketball was invented by a Scottish American who was charged with finding some sports activity for youths to play indoors during bad weather? Its true!)

Visit St Andrews Presbyterian College (named after the patron saint of Scotland) and you will be challenged by a large Scottish Highlander with his Claymore Sword defending the college or at least a bronze statue of a highland warrior.

The College is also home to the Scottish Heritage Centre.

Looking for something to eat? Skip McDonalds (not a Scottish Company) and instead go to Scottish Foods which uses a Scottish bagpiper as its main trademark and logo.

What about shopping? Simple answer. Just go to the large Scotland Crossing Shopping Center which has a Rampant Lion as it’s main centrepiece feature. This is the same red lion on a yellow background officially used only by the Scottish Monarch. It’s a good job our legal officers have generally turned a blind eye to this breach of the royal protocol.

The Square Dance Club is the Scottish Twirlers.

A local soccer team is known as the Scottish Claymores.

Lastly but not least there are numerous streets and roads named after places such as Oban, Skye, and Argyllshire the origins of the first settlers before they left Scotland.

Do you know any other place which is more Scottish than this town in North Carolina?

Want to become a Scottish Lord or Lady? Its easy enough and can be the ideal unique gift idea for anyone whether they have a Scottish connection or not.

Burning Belly Fat

Friday, August 28th, 2009

Fat Loss 4 Idiots: Belly fat usually becomes a problem when people grow older, and those who suffer from such thickened waists are in their mid-forties most of the times. As compared with other body locations, when fat accumulates on the abdomen it becomes a threat to the health condition. The only ways for burning belly fat include dietary and lifestyle changes that thin the belly bulge and bring back a flat stomach.

Old age in fact affects the rate of the metabolism, which means that in time the capacity of burning belly fat diminishes. Normally, younger people experience a more even distribution of the fat deposits that are usually located on hips, thighs, arms, buttocks and less on the abdomen, but this tendency changes after the age of forty. Unfortunately, there is more to the fat than the jiggling layer on the outside. Fat deposits trap the abdominal organs like in cages that are gradually getting tighter exposing one to all sorts of health risks.

Moreover, burning belly fat proves more difficult for people who have a genetic predisposition for overweight. Plus, hormone imbalances and changes also contribute to the alteration of the metabolism and the weight gain. How is this phenomenon to be kept under control? Well, needless to say is that metabolism-accelerating foods are the key. It is important to consume foods rich in nutrients that are immediately consumed by the body processes and which don’t turn into fat deposits.

Then, cycling, yoga, jogging, brisk walks and swimming will do wonders for your health and bring back the flat abdomen. Sometimes, hormonal therapies may also become a necessity, but such treatments can only be administered at a health care provider’s recommendation and with the precautions hormones involve. Moreover, medical investigations should make diagnosis possible when it comes to detecting any possible ailment triggered by belly fat. Only then, can one start burning belly fat and body fat loss safely and progressively.

Crash diets or harsh training sessions are not recommended. Specialists speak of the necessity to stay moderate and persistent. Sometimes, half an hour of regular body stretching and twisting performed at least four times per week will do more than intensely working at the gym for hours on end. The same rule of the middle course is recommended for diet and the eventual alternative therapies you may turn to for help.

Tip: Never Count Calories, Carbs, Or Fat Again And Lose As Much Weight As You Want – Quickly & Easily! Take action TODAY, check out the fat loss for idiots review and discover how the idiot proof diet can help you lose weight.

Internet Marketing with Affiliate Landmines

Friday, August 28th, 2009

Today, majority of the websites in the internet are extensions of a company or industry’s operating arms. Internet marketing, web marketing, online marketing and internet advertising are just few of the applications that connects the World Wide Web in optimizing the popularity and advertising effectiveness of certain industries and businesses as in product demands and service necessities. Internet has introduced limitless options on which these products and services can affect or reach a wider range of clients or consumers. One of these options is optimizing profits by using affiliate landmines.

The use of internet in marketing products have combines the creative and technical aspects of business operations. With the use of comprehensive strategies, the internet has managed to synergize majority of the commonly used business models, making them more effective and systematic in achieving business goals. With the use of website functions and appearance, these companies are enabled to reach out to their target market base by presenting an accessible and more appealing media and design of advertisement, which will convince people of their product’s necessity to everyday living. Later on, the popularity gained out of internet-based business operations will be translated into sales and revenues.

Many types on business-client/consumer interactions can be facilitated with the use of internet. With millions of people surfing the net daily, internet-based companies and internet extensions of various businesses can effectively send their message, product and service across millions of internet surfers. The conversion of these surfers or website readers into customers and clients would depend on the impact of the content and the subliminal messages that were presented in the company’s website. The potential of every reader to become future customers is promising, which is why many of the companies are building up their very own empire, this time at the realms of World Wide Web.

In internet marketing there are several business models that are used. E-commerce sells goods directly to the consumers, online publishing for online advertisements, lead-based websites for gaining sales leads through the company’s website visitors and the affiliate marketing. In affiliate marketing, business rewards are gained from one or more affiliates. This means that for each visitor or customer brought by a previous customer, a corresponding reward will be given. It basically works like a referral system, extending the advertising and sales leg of the company to the actually client’s themselves. In return, the people who have referred people to the service or product of the website that he is patronizing are rewarded with purchasing discounts, packages or reward checks. This system of internet marketing is the very core of working with affiliate landmines.

An affiliate landmine is basically a link that allows you to take part on a website’s marketing campaign. What you do is place an affiliate link and set the timing where you can offer product premiums among the website’s customers. As a consumer, you can easily determine the time when the customer’s buying resistance is low and what kind or product deals are appealing to them. The idea is you being an auxiliary sales person. So even as a consumer, you can benefit from the monetary gains of working with affiliate marketing modes.

Golf’s Past and Present

Friday, August 28th, 2009

As a participator sport, golfing has been gaining in popularity for quite a while now. But the History of Golf actually goes way back, and has evolved into a very technical sport. Golf is thought to have originated in Scotland in about the fifteenth century. Hitting stones with sticks over grass and sand and into rabbit holes is the legend of its Scottish beginning.

Of course there is no unanimity in the acceptance of that story since there were other more or less competitive activities involving sticks and balls going on. But it is likely that Scotland did help popularize this game of counting the number of hits it takes to hit some kind of a ball into a hole. When the Royal Family took up the sport it was given international exposure, and golf gained in popularity in a big way.

By the early 1800’s golf was being enjoyed by both women and men. Golf clubs at this time, were designed in basically the same way as they are now. The rules of golf were very similar to those of the modern game by this time as well. However, with the handmade clubs and balls being on the expensive side, the game of golf was mostly enjoyed only by people having enough money as well as the time.

Mass production of golf clubs made of metal began late in the nineteenth century, bringing equipment prices down and thus putting the sport in reach of more and more of the world’s sporting population. Affordability did wonders for the popularity of the game. Throughout the world golf courses and the fore runners of country clubs were being built. In 1894 the USGA was founded as participation in the sport of golfing soared. Golf was added as an Olympic sport in 1900 and the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) was formed fourteen years later.

Over the years, rapid improvement in the technical aspects of golf equipment design and production resulted in lower prices and golfers getting better results when hitting the ball. Money increasingly flowed in to the sport as golf tournaments flourished all over the world, providing a huge audience for marketers to hawk their goods and services. At the same time as television began taking off in the 1950’s, the emergence of superstar golfers drew the interest of millions of viewers. The popularity of top golfers drew ever more followers to televised golf and at the same time encouraged more people to take up the game.

In today’s market, a golf-phenom like Tiger Woods attests to the draw of the game of golf by putting the sport on the radar of virtually everyone who looks at the television or newsstand. Pro golfers demonstrate ever more tremendous skill. Weekend players and amateurs play and practice and embrace the developments in the sport. Even Computer Golf Games are able to entertain and challenge millions of virtual golfers.

Throughout the world, people of all ages are enjoying golf. Golf instruction is readily available at courses, clubs, schools and shops, for anyone who wants to learn the basics or to improve their skills. For many, the availability of golf has become an important consideration in planning vacations and business trips. In summary, the game of golf has become immensely popular, entertaining and challenging millions of people.

iPhone Insuranceuk Is Great For Careless Me

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

They say when you are looking for something, you should go back to the last place that you saw it. In all honesty, when the last place that you saw the object in question was a crowded night club, it might be time to say forget about it and invoke your iphone insurance! As far as I’m concerned, 3GS iphone insurance goes the distance and saves the day, especially when I was in a city that I didn’t know very well and had lost my ability to easily contact anyone who could help. Last spring, I was doing some work in Chicago, and a few days before I was due to leave, I was convinced into going out dancing with some of my co-workers. Everyone had a great time and it wasn’t until I was back in my hotel room that I decided to call my best friend back in Milwaukee and let her know what a great time I had had.

Unfortunately, I never got to call her that night at all, as I reached into my purse and realized that while I might have had everything else in there, the iphone definitely was not present and accounted for. I emptied my purse on the bed and rooted through scraps of paper, my wallet, tissues and more, but still no iphone. By now, my heart was starting to pound and futilely, I tore my hotel room apart looking for it. While I knew that I had iphone insurance (and I was very happy that I did!) I couldn’t shake the feeling that I could easily find my phone if I just knew where to look. After my room proved fruitless, I wandered down the hall, back through the same elevator that I had come up and nosed around the lobby for a while. After getting some thoroughly odd looks (by then, I was already in my pyjamas) I asked the clerk if I could use his phone to call the club that I was at.

The man who answered the phone was very helpful, but no one had turned my iphone in. If it wasn’t in the lost and found, he continued, it was probably gone and I would probably be best off calling the train company to see if anyone on the train had picked up my precious iphone. His tone of voice didn’t make it sound too likely but I thanked him and let him go. I wandered back up to my room and after another indiscriminate search; I lay down to get some sleep. I called the train company in the morning and after they told me much the same thing, I sighed and called my iphone 3GS insurance provider.

Insurance is a great thing and it’s even better when it works. My situation fell squarely into the area covered by loss and within forty eight hours, before I even had to leave the city, my claim was taken care of. I’m not nearly as careful with my things as I should be, and things like iphone insurance take a lot of worries off my mind!

High Yield CD Rates Round Up – Updated: August 2009

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Yes, it is about that time.  What time is that?  It’s, time for the best CD Interest Round-up.  I hope you know the time involved in putting this together.  But, I like you all, so here ya go.  I wish I could link to all of the banks, but these sites don’t allow for that.

First, we have Discover Bank with a 1-year at 1.98%.  They were started in 1911 and became FDIC backed in 1934.  Discover Bank is based in Delaware.  The bank is quite huge with $37.5 Billion in assets.  Certainly during an economic down turn, it is difficult to be a credit card bank.  They have a first quarter loss of $69.3 Million.  They are known to be well capitalized however. Their FDIC number is 5649.  They have earned a 3-star rating.  As you’ll see below, they have some competition.  Maybe they will take note of my round-up and bump their CD rates.

Next, if you are looking for something short-term, DanversBank maybe a good place to look.  A small thought provoking tidbit here.  They were founded in 1850, but didn’t become FDIC insured until 1985.  Numerous people had a lot of faith in this bank.  They have a 4-month special at 2.00%.  I’m guessing they have a short-term deposit problem.  Typically banks offering top short-term CD rates are trying to lure you inside.  After the initial period, the renewal rates are bound to be low.  So keep an eye in the mail and be ready to move on.  DanversBank’s FDIC number is 90185.  They have about $1.7BB in assets, had a 1st quarter profit, they are considered well capitalized, and earned a 3-star rating.

I found a pretty good 2y deposit rate with Citizens First Savings Bank, Port Huron, Michigan (FDIC 30005).  For Michigan CD Rates this is an especially high yield at 2.50%.  Sadly, the bank is in bad shape.  Even more depressing, they have been insured since 1938.  With a 1-star rating they are not well capitalized and have very low capital ratios

In the state of CA you will locate Wilshire State Bank (FDIC 23301). With one of the top deposit rates of 1.96% , Wilshire State Bank was established in 1980.  They also have one of the top CD Rates for 1-year at 2.15% APY.  They have a wonderful 4-star rating.

Good 2-yr interest rates in low quality banks must be all of the rage.  Frontier Bank, WA (FDIC  22710), also has a 2y deposit at 2.50%.  This certificate also has a 1-times bump option.  Fontier is well capitalized but losses have earned them a 1-star.

Bank quality is still a problem for the next two banks, also.  We complete our round-up with Acacia Federal Savings Bank (FDIC 32266) and Northpointe Bank (FDIC 34953).  Acacia has a 5-year at 3.60% APY with a 2-star rating and Northpointe has a 3Y at 3.00%, but only 1-stars.

You won’t lose a dime, just some time, as long as you stay under the FDIC insurance limits ($250,000 through 12/31/13).  And the FDIC has been very quick about returning funds.  However, most bank closures this year have not been complete shut-downs.  The FDIC has arranged for take-overs by other healthier banks.  Do watch the terms on your CD though.  I wouldn’t invest above $100,000 for CDs that will mature beyond 12/31/13.

For other rates by state stop by CD Rates NJ.  For just some plain ‘ol fashioned rate busting, stop by Online Best CD Rate.

Addisons Constructive Guide For Kids Reading Help

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Learning to read may be a tough ride for some kids.  All of the pressure from the adults can put a damper on the excitement for the kid.  This loss of excitement can finish up in a young person who loses the necessity to read.

If we as dads can ascertain methods to make reading fun and delightful, our kids will be extra ready to sit and read a book together.  Here are some ideas you can do to make reading fun for your kid.  Uh oh reading is a first-rate way for a child to be in a position to read the words he / she knows and bypass on the words that are causing discontentment.

While reading a book together, each of you take a turn reading out loud.  When the one that is reading claims the word popcorn, it’s the others turn to read.  Reading pal method is when you match up your reader up with an older reading mate and have them read a book aloud in sync.  We all had times where a rationalization of something made more sense coming from one of our peers or a sibling.  This gives your child the chance to rehearse reading without an adults watchful eye causing possible uneasiness.  After all the words your youngster knows are highlighted on the page, take a second and have your youngster look and see how many words he / she’ll essentially read.  This is sort of a confidence shot.  Take a flashlight with you and read the book by flashlight.  Tiny boys especially like this one.  More on reading help.

Secret Hideout technique is when a kid hasn’t built a fort at one prior point or another?  If you don’t have already got a fort in your home or outside in the yard, help your kid create one.  It can a blanket fort, a plywood fort outside, a tree house, or perhaps an easy under to bed fort.

Merely ensure you both can fit…being prepared to get out once you have gotten in is useful too ) Bring your youngster’s favourite reading book, get comfy and read away.  Reading corner method is when you create a reading corner somewhere in your home.  Let your child join decorating it and picking just the best place to put it.  Add some bean bags or pillows, perhaps a favorite poster on the wall or even some family photos.  Take five and just read to your kid sometimes No reason required here.  Picture Investigator Have your kid flip thru a book and look at all of the pictures and tell you what he / she believes is going to happen in the story.  Read the story and see how close he / she was. Learn more about kids reading help.

Pick one word that your child especially has a heavy time with and everytime your child reads that word, both of you stand up.  This works particularly well with kinesthetic learners.  A kid who wants to move all of the time and likes to touch and feel everything.  Star of the story have you seen a customised story book where your youngster’s name is released in the story?  This is a completely unique methodology to get your unenthusiastic reader pumped up about a book.  In these sorts of books, your kid’s name and the name of his or her mates are published in the story-line, making your kid the star of his or her own book!  How motivating is that?  He or she’ll have to read the book to discover what kind of journey she is going to be going on.

Insurance Companies Take Positive Steps To Improve Protection Insurance

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

A lot of professional  financial advisors would be of the same opinionthat Financial Protection Insurance is fundamental to a good number of families, whether it may be a precaution in the event of prolonged illness, premature death, cover for an accident or loss of employment (especially in the present economic climate),.

Life Insurance is the basis of all financial assurance to ensure a lump sum that is not taxable, in the event of a death or for cover for a mortgage.  Unfortunately, a proportion of other Protection Insurance types, do not have the samedo not have similar} reliable qualities and have been labelled as being miss-sold.  Also, based on what we are now aware, critical illness insurance has suffered owing to shocking exclusions from insurance policies making it feasible for insurers to reject a claim even if it is genuine.

However, a little faith was reinstated when Norwich Union gave details on the conclusion of claims on Critical Illness Cover on their half yearly statistics.

Critical Illness Insurance claims were being turned down because customers did not reveal their full medical record.  As a result Norwich Union  reports that in the last five months the amount of declined claims has fallen significantly from 5.7 per cent in the last year, to 2.3%.

Why?  We think, not simply Norwich Union but all insurers, because of destructive publicity, have been put into a situation whereby they must reduce the number of claims that are rejected. Does this prove how influential the media can be?  Debateable perhaps – you may think we are dubious but we think there are other factors that encouraged the insurers to make adjustments.  Lately, as a consequence of |bad press|dire media}, sales of Critical Illness Cover  have declined which in turn has noticeably impinged on the insurers profit. This is more likely to have been the catalyst to promote change!

Friends Provident, Norwich Union, Scottish Provident and Axa have introduced some prominent changes specially designed to decrease their rejection rates. To start with, they outline plainly that all medical disclosure, however insignificant a visit to a Doctor could have been, must be revealed.  Axa, amongst others will get a Doctor or Nurse to telephone every candidate to go through all the particulars of their medical history.  If the insurance policy then goes on risk, a number of policyholders are being informed that it is vital that they provide full medical disclosure and they are permitted to add or put right any information on their application.

The insurer may then re-evaluate the risk and if it is thought to be increased the monthly payments will most likely be raised – which looks more sensible and ultimately more satisfactory than paying the original premium then having a claim rejected because of non-disclosure of medical records.

This process should have been put into operation by the insurers years ago as the public’s perception of Protection Insurance has deteriorated by their somewhat ‘Off the ball’ approach. On a positive note, there is a clear and necessary need for protection insurance so we can hope that it is able to restore faith and then the recognition it duly deserves.
