What To “Really” Look For When Buying A Horse

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

Has buying a horse got you confused? If your are looking to compare apples to apples..er, Quarter horses to Quarter horses, I mean..then there are a few things you must consider with each and every horse you look at. Here’s the list:

Temperament.

A horse’s temperament is extremely important to your overall experience. If you are a beginning rider, temperament is probably the most important factor when it comes to choosing a horse. A horse of good temperament is alert and ready to work, but also calm and willing.

Manners.

Manners are extremely important! They can mean the difference between a horse being easy to live with, and a horse being not-so-easy to live with! When looking at horses for sale, make sure you watch their behavior as they are being caught, handled, and ridden. And keep in mind that just like with us humans, bad habits can be hard to break!

Soundness.

If you are planning on riding your horse, working soundness is key. This means that the horse should not have any lamenesses that prevents the horse from moving correctly and therefore succeeding at its intended purpose. Horses who aren’t being ridden need to be checked for soundness depending upon what you are planning on using them for. For example, if you are looking for a broodmare, a breeding unsoundness would prevent the mare from having a foal. However, that same mare may be a great family riding horse!

Movement.

Horses should move smoothly and in balance, without stiffness, crookedness, or interference. When looking at younger horses, keep in mind that some of a horse’s gait is determined by training. If you have questions about a horse’s gait, it always helps to get an experienced horse person to look at the horse and give you his opinion. Is the horse’s way of going inherent, or is it something that can be improved with a little training? Be sure you watch the horse at all three gaits. If you ride the horse, is the horse comfortable? If you are a beginning rider, comfort is very important!

Conformation.

The way a horse is built will determine how a horse moves. It goes without saying that the horse shouldn’t have any glaring conformational faults that affect its way of going. Aside from that, the conformation of the horse should be suitable for the manner in which you intend to use him. If you are not educated when it comes to horse conformation, take someone along who is.

Health.

How healthy is the horse you are looking at? Ask to see the horse’s health records, to determine if their is anything long-standing, recurring, or permanent that would have to be dealt with. Temporary health issues can be easier to deal with and you may even get your horse at a discount price as a result. However, do remember that if you intend to buy a horse and then nurse him back to health, there’s a good chance you’ll have to spend time and money that you wouldn’t have spent on a healthier horse.

Accomplishments.

What has your horse done in the past? This may be a very important consideration if you are looking for a horse to show you the ropes; on the other hand, it may not be a consideration at all if you intend to train the horse yourself.

Size.

In the world of horses, size does matter! It is important that your horse fits you. As a general rule of thumb, bigger horses are more desirable because they can accommodate a wider range of riders. If you are looking at a smaller horse make sure your legs can fall in the right position. In other words, your heel should not be below the horse’s underline. If you are not certain, ask someone else how you look on the horse.

There sure is a lot to consider when looking at horses for sale and selecting the right horse. However, it’s important to know that careful selection will result in years of enjoyment. Take your time!

You Cannot Beat Bissell Carpet Cleaning Products

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

The origins of the Bissell Carpet Cleaning Products are in a family shop, and the need to solve a problem. The problem was removing sawdust from a carpet. Melville Bissell is the man who created a solution.  He designed and constructed a carpet sweeper machine that he hoped would put an end to the problem once and for all. His design was a great success, and word of his invention spread quickly by word of mouth, and carpet vacuum cleaners were born.

The modern Bissell upright vacuum cleaners such as the Bissell 3750 include a range of tools and accessories for cleaning most surfaces in the home. Most of these carpet vacuum cleaners also have cunning designs to cope with stairs and other hard to clean places in the home.

The Bissell 3750 upright carpet vacuum cleaner are not hugely expensive compared to many other upright carpet vacuum cleaners, but many customers believe that they are worth every penny. Many wouldn’t trade their Bissell Carpet Cleaning products for anything else.

The use of bag less and Hepa technology is great for cost saving, because cleaning bags can prove to be expensive over the life of a carpet vacuum cleaner. Hepa technology removes over 99% of dust mites and allergens from carpets and floors, and are especially good for asthma sufferers or people with dust allergies.

Bissell have developed a number of other significant house cleaning tools as well. The Bissell Steam Mop for example, uses steam to clean and naturally disinfect floors with nothing but water. The absence of chemicals is a great benefit, especially to those who have allergies to some cleaning agents found in many home cleaning solutions.

Another Bissell product, the Bissell 1200B SpotBot can remove new or old stains irrespective of how long the stains have been present. This cleaner can work on different types of stain too, including wine stains, juice stains or tea and coffee stains.

The Bissell Steam Cleaners are particularly useful if you have pets in the house, especially if those pets have not been house trained. The steam is an effective cleaning agent, but also safe to use for family and for your pets too.

New Fall Wear Fasions For Today’s Contemporary Plus Sized Person

Friday, February 20th, 2009

The trend was never constant that women should look bony and slender as history shows that men have often longed for buxom women in the past. The past is full of times when the scrawny look went out of fashion. There are so many women who wear sizes ranging from 12 and 34 so what is actually meant by ‘plus size clothing’? Many of these emaciated women suffer from mal-nutrition. Many of these women even go to the extent of starving their bodies of nutrition just to remain their lanky self.

On the contrary it is foolish to presume that plus sized women are not sought after. As is evident, many A-list stars which include some great super stars demand as much adulation if not more than the thinner and slimmer opposites. Now that manufacturers are also concentrating on satisfying the sartorial desires of fatter women, women with 12, 13 and even bigger sizes are getting appropriate clothes which appeal to men.

Options abound for the full figured woman who can now find plus size clothing including shirts, sweaters, skirts, pants, swimwear, and lingerie all made with quality but inexpensive cheap fabric. in many different online stores. Even shops known world wide are catering to the needs for plus size clothes and also smaller sizes. They are wearing plus size bras as well as many other items of clothing.

Every woman takes particular care about the way she looks and would love to be appreciated for her looks. Looks can affect the way you feel about yourself and your level of self confidence. They even influence how popular a person is and full-figured women may feel they have a difficult time finding clothes that seem stylish or makes them feel sexy. While voluptuous women find it tough, sometimes it may result in some distressing situations also.

Hence the issue of plus size clothing can not be ignored. Especially the material the clothing is made of: cheap fabric. Spring dresses for the plus size woman are extremely popular everywhere in the world. Vintage fashion is newsworthy, and most clothing stores are advertising trendy spring collections with large buttons on dresses, and trendy stylish belts are the current rage.

White and pink look gorgeous on plus size dresses. Because the fashion trend is moving backwards to the old world look, get some old world jewelry to go with your dresses. Plus size dresses these days are elegant and fashionable and many people would be taken by surprise as online shopping has become so convenient for plus size clothing and fabric.

Tenerife records lowest UK Visitors

Friday, February 20th, 2009

It is true that the Spanish do not holiday in their own country in the same way that most Euopeans do within Spain and the Canary Islands. The Spanish enjoy staying with friends and relatives in their own country as a holiday and see no point in paying for hotel accommodation or private villa rental in their own country.

Even though the South East Coastal regions of Spain stay warm all year round, the Spanish don’t care for hanging out around the tourist resorts much like the Brits in general are not that eager to spend their main holidays hanging out along the East Coast of the UK.

However, as the economic downturn bites into the UK, Tenerife has noticed a large decrease in the number of Brits travelling to Tenerife for holidays in the last quarter of 2008 and all expectations are for this trend to stay the same for some time to come! Yet the number of Spanish holidaying in Tenerife is on the increase even though the Department of Tourist Investigation of the Tenerife Tourism Board announced that October was down by 6.9% on last year for total visitors to the Island. The ten months up to October had shown a 1.38% overall increase to 4,443,426 tourists in 2008.

The holiday firm behind the Nerja Apartments booking agency confirmed that travellers from the UK to Spain was still bouyant and that plans to open a new Tenerife Apartments agency would still be going ahead early 2009 whilst solidifying the Marbella Apartments position in the market place as they increase market share. They acknowledge the subtle change being experienced in customer mix and are developing multiple language options for their websites.

Expending Airsoft Guns for Education & Enjoyment

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

As proof of what a solid training tool they are just at who uses them…professional law enforcement trainees and academies buy lots of airsoft guns.

All kinds of government organizations from police training academies, FBI training academies, and various other federal and state law enforcement agencies train their new recruits using cheap airsoft guns of the realistic weight, look and feel.

The ones which use green gas are the most realistic in terms of power and feel.

They can shoot out the BBs at a rate of 400 fps which can definitely pierce the skin if you’re within 10 yards or so.

I would say the risk level is similar to that of paintball. Cover yourself up with protective clothing and whatever you do definitely wear face protection in the form of a paintball style facemask. This isn’t negotiable.

Whether you’re looking to train and move up into real guns, just have some enjoyment in your backyard shooting cans or trees or other various objects, or you’re looking to have a rousing game of fun with family and your friends cheap airsoft guns can be a great way to go without having too much risk nor setting your pocket book aflame.

Go out and enjoy, point your barrel away from others until the game is lived, and lock and load.

Again, be smart, and use the airsoft weapon’s safety before and after the game. Hitting someone while they are not geared up could cause irreversible damage, especially if you hit them in the face. So watch out, and have fun.

How to Learn Spanish Fast

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

Spanish is one of the “romance languages”, derived directly from the Latin of the Roman Empire. There is a great deal of Latin influence in English. In fact, Latin was the official language of England up until 1252 when King John made English the official language. Because of these common origins there are many similarities in English and Spanish. This makes Spanish easy for English-speakers to learn.

The best way to learn to speak Spanish is to take an interactive audio course. Good ones are available that you can buy and download from the Internet immediately. Once on your hard disk in mp3 format, you can offload copies to your iPod or other portable listening device. Or you could burn the lessons into CD’s and play them back on any CD player anywhere.

Arguably the best interactive-audio course available to help you learn Spanish is the Rocket Spanish Course. You might want to have a look at the review of Rocket Spanish you will find here, at Rocket Spanish review.

So how to learn Spanish? The best way is conversationally. You learn some basic vocabulary, a few words. Then you practice using these in spoken conversation. You ask and answer questions. You communicate. Doing that impresses the words on your mind and lets you assimilate them as tools useful for communication. You learn by using the language, not by memorizing vocabulary and conjugating verbs. Think about it. How old were you when you first learned what the word “conjugation” meant? I’ll bet you could already speak pretty good, effective English then!

If you are at all serious about learning Spanish, you should check out Rocket Spanish.

Simple Retirement Plans For The Golden Years

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

The media is running stories about how much money we have to have at retirement in order to maintain the lifestyle that we are used to when working. There seem to be many complex formulas that are presented at different seminars that are suppose to help the person know when they have enough money to retire.

My husband and I have developed quite simple retirement plans. We started thinking about this and planning for retirement when we were quite young. We are very glad that we did. We listened to some sound advice from a retirement planner through our jobs. Our simple retirement plans have included putting aside fifty dollars of each pay check into deferred compensation. This lowers your salary so fewer taxes are taken out. When we were ok financially one of us or some times both of us would also place any raise we received into the deferred compensation program. At first we placed the money into a fixed account which had higher interest rates than the banks did. Then we began placing percentages of the amounts into low risk stock options and mutual funds. Our money grew over time. We also had our public employee retirement accounts.

When I had been with the county for twenty years I left, knowing that when I turn fifty five I will begin receiving a pension check monthly for the rest of my life. I will be able to work another fifteen years at another job and will have the 401k plan from there. We also invested in term life insurance policies with low monthly premiums.
